Hamilton beats Vettel’s record around the Top Gear test track

Lewis Hamilton, last night, beat Vettel’s lap record around the Top Gear test track in the “Reasonably priced Car” by over a second. The 2008 world champion had earlier set a time on a wet and slippery track which the German beat by 7/10th’s in the Suzuki Liana. Yesterday’s 1.42.9 is the fastest anyone has been around the Top Gear test track in the Liana.

Hamilton’s reaction to the time – “Wow. Holy c**p, I cant believe it.”

“Unbelievable” was Jeremy Clarkson’s reaction to the time and to Lewis’s switch from McLaren to Mercedes.

There are a lot of arguments about Lewis cutting the corner at Hammerhead, but we have not seen any footage of the infraction, and as it stands he is the fastest around the Top Gear test track.
